Luke 22:14-18 April, 19, 2020 Lord’s Supper: past, present. But also future CHRIST DIRECTS OUR FAITH TO THE MARRIAGE FEAST OF THE LAMB Vs. 14 Lord is going to celebrate the Passover with his disciples Vs. 15 remarkable words Strong desire, longing Not: I am overcome by sorrow, but earnest desire Why? Passover Feast of redemption, freedom First time while still in Egypt Passover had forward looking element Lord earnestly desired to celebrate THIS Passover The last one before his arrest and death Soon the promises will be fulfilled – true redemption This Passover reminds him and assures him of the outcome of it all It strengthened and encouraged him in his faith Hebrews 12:2 As true human he needed this This is also why he desires to do this with his disciples They will be the one to bring the Gospel of redemption to the nations John 13 -17 also very forward looking Vs. 16-18 To underline his longing he makes a pledge Next time will again with you, but then in fullness of Kingdom He longs for the Marriage feast of the Lamb I am coming soon!
